Designated Chair - Advisory Boards for Family Business & SMEs

Family businesses and SMEs use modern advisory boards to supercharge revenue growth, increase profits, manage conflict and enterprise risk, and reduce owner stress.

Advisory boards are designed to be more relational, pragmatic, and proactive than conventional consultants and traditional governance boards providing a broad range of advice and support on both personal and commercial issues. Advisory board chairs can find themselves acting as coach, mentor, facilitator, adviser, or "sounding board" to hard-pressed business owners - in effect, becoming a "professional best friend."

Advisory boards are especially useful for guiding families and businesses through change, succession, growth, conflict, and other major challenges. High-trust relationships enable business owners to maintain focus on core business activities, while the board handles anything else the owner lacks the bandwidth to cover.

This two-day course focuses on the unique needs of modern family businesses and SMEs. It will show you how to become an effective advisory board chair, how to win and service advisory board engagements, and how to use appropriate human skills to build high-trust advisory relationships.

The Solutionist Group (est. 2004)

I’ve trained accountants, lawyers, mediators, and family business advisers in the human skills needed to facilitate high-quality, high-trust advisory engagements—from the practical perspective of an active practitioner with the scars to prove it—for over 30 years. It took a while to work out the best way to apply the knowledge and skills acquired on my personal adviser journey.

I had to “unlearn” being a Task-Based Consultant to learn how to become a Relational Adviser. Now this comes into executable focus through Modern Advisory Boards. We learn best by doing, so we’ll be “doing” on this program. Highly interactive peer group sharing will enrich the content and help participants grow their networks.

I hope to see you there.
